How It Works

Bill services by time When you add a new good or service, you can now choose exactly how it’s billed: per item, or by the hour, day, week, or month. Your prices will now read the way you actually quote them to clients, such as “$95.00 / hour”. Need to find your hourly services later? You can easily filter your Goods & Services list to show only the items that are billed by time.
Invoice directly in hours When you pick a service on an invoice or bill, the line item now speaks your language. It will display quantities in time, like “2.5 hrs” at “$95.00/hr”. If you type “1:30” into the quantity field, we’ll automatically read it as an hour and a half. For a one-off line item, simply hover over Qty or Rate to pick your preferred time unit. Your invoice totals will now show exactly how many hours you billed. Plus, your chosen units stay put even when you duplicate an invoice, convert an estimate, or set up a recurring invoice.

Invoices your clients can read at a glance We’ve updated our invoice PDFs so your clients know exactly what they are paying for. Your invoice PDF will now show an “Hours” column instead of a generic “Quantity” column, along with the specific rate per hour and a new “Total hours” row at the bottom. To make things even clearer, each service name is printed in bold with your custom description underneath.

New Billed Time report The new Billed Time report lets you see exactly how much time you’ve billed. You can break this data down by client, project, or service. The report also highlights your average hourly rate and shows you how it compares to your usual list rate. You can view these insights month by month, and easily download the report as a PDF or CSV. (Available on Standard and Pro plans)
Hours at a glance Your individual service pages will now show the total hours billed this year alongside your average rate. For Pro users, project pages go a step further by showing a tile with the hours you’ve invoiced measured against the hours in your original estimates, so you always know where you stand before you go over budget.
